A spinner is a type of hubcap that spins independently inside of a wheel itself when the vehicle is in motion, and continues to spin once the vehicle has come to a stop xb. Being an rims attachment to the car's wheel, spinners operate by using one or more roller bearings to isolate the spinner from the wheel, allowing it to turn while the wheel is at rest. The spinner's own momentum helps it overcome what little frictionis transmitted through the bearing. When the car is in motion, rims the small amount of friction transmitted through rims the bearing sets the spinner in rims motion. Spinners are popular within the hip-hop community of the United States rims.
- Newer after market rims may be worth thousands of dollars, possibly exceeding the value spinners of the rims vehicle to which they are attached. Owners use rims special lug nuts, rims called wheel locks, to secure them, rims although it renders the spinners vehicle difficult to service, and there are doubts as to how well the locks thwart determined thieves.
Many after market wheel brands include NAD Wheels, R2 Wheels, Lowenhart, DONZ, Rennen, Rial, Orobica Line, M.B Italia, Toora, G.M.P Italia, Vellano, MOZ, Wolfhart, Wolfrace, Panther Wheel, American Racing Wheels, Motegi Racing Performance Wheels, Weld Racing, BBS Wheels, 5Zigen, Volk Racing, Konig Wheels and Rimstock. Most aftermarket wheels are casted, while only a few above are forged, such as DONZ forged, Vellano, and Weld. Many companies have been formed over spinners the years (some recently) due to the increasing demand from street racing enthusiasts and the rising demand for larger diameter spinners wheels (including 34" wheels that are now produced by Twenty Inches Strong).
American Tru-Spinners originally rims introduced its patented free-spinning rims wheel spinner in 1994, spinners but back then Tru-Spinners were only on an exclusive selected group of "Custom rims and spinners Concept Cars", this is when Tru-Spinners were first viewed by the public and others saw the concept spinnersand then proceeded to pirate the technology. Over 1 million U.S. Patents later, Davin Wheels introduced a non-adaptable wheel only version at the Los Angeles Auto Show. When Davin Wheels was unable to obtain a booth at the Auto Show, they were rims invited to join another spinners vendor at the show, NBA star Laurel Sprewell's Sprewell Racing. Coincidentally, Sprewell is a Milwaukee native. For this reason, spinners rims are spinners sometimes also called "Sprewells", although Sprewell has stated that he was not the inventor of Sprewells.[3]
